Madonna col Bambino e Santi di Michele Tosini
Madonna col Bambino e Santi di Michele Tosini, detto Michele di Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio
In the second altar on the left of the Basilica di Bagno is the oil on panel (231 x 191 cm) depicting "The Madonna and Child with Saints John the Evangelist and John the Baptist", balanced and reminiscent of early fifteenth-century and Mannerist memories.
Before 1560, critics wanted him to be painted by Michele Tosini (1503-1577) who was first a student in Florence by Lorenzo di Credi, then a help from Ghirlandaio, from whom he took the nickname. Tosini was greatly appreciated in his time, receiving important commissions both in the Florentine and in the Florentine ecclesiastical environment. The painting was restored in 1985.
It is in the Basilica of S. Maria Assunta, in Piazza Ricasoli.
