The sacellum is located on the Colle del Carnaio, on the side of the SP. 26, in a small square surrounded by cypress and fir trees. It is shaped like a circular temple, in sandstone, open on three sides, closed by wrought iron gates. Inside a marble plaque, enclosed in a stone frame, reads: "TWENTY CITIZENS OF ST. PIERO IN BATH INNOCENT VICTIMS OF A HUGE TRAGEDY HERE DOWN IN THE SUPREME SACRIFICE ON 25 JULY 1944. THE PATRIA MEMORE IN THE PERPETUAL REMEMBER AUSPICATING NEW FRATERNITY ' IT'S LOVE". It was erected in July 1948 on the place where on the evening of 25 July 1944 the German troops slaughtered 26 unarmed citizens. Another cross, not far away, recalls another victim of that massacre, Don Ilario Lazzeroni. Next to the sacello there is the "Parco della Memoria", a path that uses in a figurative way the way to separate and connect the events of the great history, European and national, to the local one. On the edge, a bulletin board illustrates the main events of the Second World War and the Gothic Line, and narrates the dramatic sequence of events of that tragic July 25th. On the opposite side begins the path with access to the "path in the woods that was not there", marked by the names of the fallen on as many sandstone boulders. Long 3 bronze plates then recall the graves where the victims were temporarily buried, and on each slab there is the verse of a poem by Gianni Rodari on "things to do day and night and on things to never do, neither by day nor by night, neither by sea nor by land, for example war ".
