Bagno / Anello del Càrpano per MTB

Anello del Càrpano

From Bagno di Romagna we follow the new cycle-pedestrian path up to S. Piero in Bagno and then take us to Piazza Allende where we take Via Verdi, going up to the nineteenth-century stone bridge over the Rio. We are already outside the inhabited area, in front of a slope bordered by two deep streams that descends from the secondary ridge and towards which, immediately beyond the bridge, a narrow municipal road goes up among worked fields: we instead follow the path on the left , marked b / r, which leads to the two farms of Raggio tracing the old mule track Sbucati sull'asfaltata, we follow it to the junction for Paganico, then take the road to the right that we abandon shortly after to enter, still on the right and then left , on a dirt path, also marked, which with a single challenging trak goes up to Monte Piano. Once arrived on the ridge and come out on the trail of a mule track, we take it to the left, to go down to a clearing that is a crossroads of roads and tracks: we follow the left for the dirt road closed by a bar and tabbed by "Val di Bagno Trek" (CAI 201). The wide dirt road flows with pleasant ups and downs on the secondary ridge towards the Monte Castelluccio overlooking the landscape: when abetine and cedar trees open superb views on the side vallecole (on the right the Rio Salso, on the left that of the Rio Paganico). Ignore the detours and follow the trail passing under the peak of Castelluccio: now on the left we have the valley of Incisa at the bottom of which Bagno appears. The dirt road then bypasses Monte Càrpano and shortly after, shrinking, s'immette on the "Mulattiera di Pietrapazza" that goes up from Bagno direct in the Bidente valley: we are a few meters below the secondary ridge that marks the border with the National Park of Forests Casentino. We take the mule track on the left, marked b / r 189, which cuts diagonally a slope of the Volanello valley passing next to the ruins of Prati, Casanova and Barco: it is an evocative route, a very technical single trak that requires attention until the end of the descent, when it comes out on the SP. 138, in Bagno di Romagna.
