Ristorante Del Ponte - ristoranti
Del Ponte Restaurant
The Ristorante del Ponte is an authentic nineteenth century trattoria. Since 1880 the cooking has been done as in former times using an open fireplace and spit. The Ammoniaci family has lived and worked here for four generations. The family is Tuscan in origin, from the rolling hills of Chianti, and the flavours of this land can still be appreciated in the dishes proposed today, from the giblets on toasted bread to the game. The nineteenth-century fireplace dominates the kitchen where you can still admire the old coal stove. The spit functions with a weights mechanism, and every Sunday a spit-roast is prepared. The cook, who is also the owner, prepares the food as she would for her family, using local ingredients: polenta flour from the mill, fresh Comero mushrooms. All the pasta is handmade. There are onion, bean and chickpea soups. The desserts are prepared in a bain marie, and the zabaione is a house speciality. The elegant antique sitting room upstairs, named after Garibaldi, is ideal for a tasty aperitif and after- dinner drinks. Small pets are welcome.
