Misteri Dolorosi, Gaudiosi e Gloriosi di Jacopo Vignali
In the fifth chapel on the left of the Basilica di Bagno di Romagna there is a painting on canvas representing the "Mysteries of Sorrow" (226 x 174 cm) by the Casentino painter Jacopo Vignali from (1592-1644), whose hand is also the execution of two other large canvases, of identical dimensions, present in the basilica, and representing respectively the "Mysteries Gaudiosi" (sixth chapel on the left) and the "Mysteries Gloriosi" 1629 (seventh chapel on the right). All are before 1629. The scenes are distributed on dark backgrounds within garlands of leaves dotted with blooming roses. The three canvases, coming from the suppressed monastery of S. Felicita in Florence, were transferred to Bagno di Romagna in 1874 by the RR. Galleries and Museums of Florence.
I am in the Basilica of S. Maria Assunta, in Piazza Ricasoli.
