San Piero in Bagno

San Piero in Bagno

Panorama di san Piero in BagnoLaying across the Savio river, San Piero if the chief town of the council hosting building, metal, wood and cloth industries, plus a wide selections of restaurants, shops and free time facilities. It was first established in the Fourteenth century as a market place for the close castle of Corzano and in the following centuries it was developed by the Tuscan lords. In the last two centuries, moreover, San Piero was enriched by the architectural masterpiece of Cesare Spighi, who designed the church, the public school, the monumental cemeteries, and Rivalta-Paganelli Palace. The town center is lovely preserved: the wide market square framed by Sixteenth and Seventeenth centuries palaces and the two Seventeenth century bridges across the Savio are both worth of a visit.
