Outside the Basilica of S. Maria Assunta di Bagno di Romagna is the bronze statue dedicated to the Blessed Giovanna da Bagno. It was created by the Milanese sculptor and engraver Costantino Affer (1906-1987) and inaugurated on 12 September 1965. In 200, after the reconstruction of the paving of the square, the statue was placed on a base of sandstone. The Blessed Giovanna, dear to popular devotion, lived during the high Middle Ages in a female hermitage of the area according to the rules of the Camaldolese order. His body is kept in a glass case inside the Basilica, in the first chapel on the left.
