Pietrapazza (616 meters above sea level) is a charming and abandoned village in the Romagna side of the "National Park of the Casentino Forests", at the root of the homonymous Bidente valley. A minimal place: the church, the parsonage, the small cemetery, a bridge and all around ruined farmhouses. Ruins are also other surrounding farms that once formed the populous village (200 inhabitants), completely abandoned in the seventies of the twentieth century. The still intact church, dedicated to Sant'Eufemia, was built in 1938; in front of it a path descends to the old cemetery and a stone bridge over the Bidente di Pietrapazza or Bidente Piccolo, which in this stretch forms small waterfalls, natural pools and pools that in summer recall bathers. The now sweet and sometimes harsh nature, still full of signs of man (houses, majesty, bridges, mule tracks ...), draws here an extraordinary fresco, appreciated in every season by those who frequent - on foot or by mountain bike - the many paths well marked and the muletracks.

Getting here

BY CAR: from S. Piero in Bagno take the SP. 26 and follow it up to 14 km where - to the indication - you take on the left a winding municipal road that in 6 km leads to Poggio alla Lastra. Instead coming from Forlì to S. Sofia you follow the SP 26, and at km 1.00 you turn right into the municipal road. Once in Poggio alla Lastra, shortly after you follow the dirt track on the left that with gentle ups and downs always runs along the Bidente to Pietrapazza (10 km).
