Maestà delle Petrose a Rio Petroso
Maestà delle Petrose a Rio Petroso
Already documented in the sixteenth century, it is pilastered, squat and massive, stacked with stones just rough-hewn, the horseshoe-shaped niche covered by slabs stuck with large stones. It is a classic example of road majesty: placed along a mule track that from Passo del Carnaio descends to Rio Petroso and into the Bidente di Pietrapazza valley, it indicated a junction that led to the underlying valley of the Petrose where were farms and mills. It has recently been restored by the "Alpini Romagnoli" Association.
From S. Piero in Bagno you can reach the Carrier Pass by car following the SP. 26 (km 3,500); then continue on foot along a dirt road and then take the mule track that leads to Rio Petroso (Sentiero CAI 217) on the right: you will find it after about 5,500 km.
