Ponte a Ridracoli (476 meters above sea level), in the Bidente valley of the same name, was the heart of this once populous village, scattered in the surrounding farms: here there was the church, the school, the cemetery, the mill and the tavern next door the nineteenth-century stone bridge; a group of houses was settled on a hill further upstream, where there was also a castle of which few traces remain. The construction of the imposing dam (1992) has restored vitality to this village: now refuges, holiday homes, restaurants, hostels, hotels, a network of trails that run along the artificial lake or go into the surrounding "National Park of the Casentino Forests" guarantee serene stays in contact with nature.

A Ponte a Ridracoli is located IDRO - Ecomuseum of water, with exhibition rooms dedicated to this vital element; at the top of the dam, the educational-exhibition centers dedicated to nature and technology are placed.
