The Visitor Centre of the National Park of the Casentino Forests in Bagno di Romagna
The National Park of the Casentino Forests has its own Visitor Centre in Bagno di Romagna, housed in the Palazzo del Capitano, which provides useful information for visitors and helps them organise their visit. The first floor also has a permanent hands-on exhibition designed to explain the history of the waters and the geology of the area in a way that is entertaining and engaging even for school children: the silhouette of a large beech tree reveals the "ecological niche" of birds; a model enables you to get a bird's eye view of the Park's territory and pick out its mountains, valleys, rivers and villages; another model shows you how Bagno di Romagna's hot thermal waters are formed; in "The Room of Sensations" you are immersed in an environment dominated by water; "The Learning Room" contains the fascinating "Wardrobe of Sounds and Signs" with 18 drawers, each containing the answer to a different question: How big is the eagle? How small is the wren? How many animals are there in the park? Which is the most dangerous or which comes from furthest away…?
Palazzo del Capitano is in Via Fiorentina, in the center of the country.
