Anello del Rio Petroso
You reach San Piero in Bagno with the new cycle path, and you cross the whole country. At the junction at the end of the village, take the SP on the left. 26, climbing first easily and then gradually engaged by the hairpin bends that lead to the Passo del Carnaio. When you reach almost the top, at a wide right-hand bend you turn left, following for a hundred meters a wide dirt road, marked b / r 20. Then you take the right on the right another gravel and easy track (217), which it becomes muddy with the rain: accompanied by fences, it gradually descends along the crest of galestro, arid and scaly, which rises between the ditches of Varotto (right) and the Petrose (left), goes towards the abandoned village of Rio Petroso to then get up again in the Monte delle Petrose and finally to descend into the Bidente di Pietrapazza, where also the two fortified ditches converge. After passing through the cemetery, the ruins of the church of S. Biagio di Rio Petroso and some houses, we find the old paved mule track that descends: it is suggestive when, before going around the top of the Monte delle Petrose, it runs on a slender galestro di galestro, a thin blade supported by a low wall. Then it descends steeply, almost obliterated by lush vegetation, to the nucleus of Ca 'Morelli; you cross the court of this lump of abandoned houses on a plateau suspended on the Bidente and then descend until the nineteenth-century bridge on the Bidente di Pietrapazza, from where, with a steep stretch, it then flows on the long forest trail that connects Poggio alla Lastra (right) in Pietrapazza (left), and crosses the abandoned valley in its entirety. Follow it on the left and, after Ca 'di Veroli - a lonely hotel converted from an old farmhouse, excellent dining venue - you take again left for Rio Salso (213). After the Ponte dei Riacci, the section becomes challenging for the slope and the uneven ground. Then appear the houses of Rio Salso, built to climb on a spur that closes the homonymous vallecola: the ancient nucleus has been beautifully restored the large manor house with its outbuildings, which became the hotel "Rio Salso" - another great place to stop and refreshment but open occasionally - while the nearby church and a farm are falling ruins. From Rio Salso we continue on the long dirt road that winds uphill to Monte floor where we take on the left a road partially paved descending towards San Piero in Bagno.
