Affresco ex Oratorio S. Lucia
Cristo in pietà, affresco (metà del XV° sec )
During the recent transformation into a restaurant of the building called the former Oratory of Santa Lucia di Bagno di Romagna, a fresco was rediscovered attributable to the mid-fifteenth century, depicting "Christ in piety". This name indicates the iconographic image of Christ, the Man of Sorrows, which shows the wounds and the instruments of the Passion. This representation, inspired by the devotional tradition, was well suited to the place, which in ancient times was a hospitale for pilgrims and sick people outside the walls of Bagno. In the seventeenth century, the fresco was buried in the raising of the hospice that was continually flooded by the floods of the Savio and the nearby ditch. Today it can again be admired inside the restaurant "Cenacolo Santa Lucia".
It is located in the center of Bagno di Romagna, in Via Santa Lucia, inside the restaurant "Cenacolo Santa Lucia".
